ABOUT LYJE ART

Wikwemikong annual cultural festival, August 2024.

Here i set up my first vendor with a great turnout, meeting tons of people and was able to get some of my art out in to the community!

Elijah Bell

Elijah is a 24-year-old First Nations Indigenous artist from Ontario, known for their vibrant and surreal approach to landscapes, portraiture, and Indigenous imagery. From a young age, Elijah used art as a way to express themselves, not focusing much on the technical side until high school, when they began to seriously consider a career in art.

After high school, Elijah took a general fine arts course but soon realized it was too broad and didn't quite fit their style. They decided to

continue developing their skills independently, practicing on their own and learning from real-life experiences. This journey led to the creation of Lyje Art, a personal brand created to connect with the art community through vendors and social media.

Elijah is inspired by artists like Kiptoe1 and Alphonso Dunn, who combine the elements of vibrancy and realism that Elijah admires in their own work. While surrealism is their main focus, it is the combination of bright colors and lifelike detail that defines their art. Though not many surrealist artists influence their pieces, Elijah enjoys pushing creative boundaries and exploring new ideas.

Excited and optimistic about their future, Elijah is focused on growing as a professional artist. They are passionate about sharing their unique perspective and creating art that reflects Indigenous stories and imaginative worlds, hoping to inspire and engage others through every piece they create.

LYJE ART’S MISSION - "To stay immersed in the art community with unique, accessible art that inspires."
