“AGAINST AUTUMN WINDS”
Note from the Artist.
This piece was inspired by the long and horrible battle that the indigenous people have endured since the establishment of the residential schools in which it’s effects still linger until this day. The exact behind this piece is that our people were forced to cut their hair in one of many attempts to strip them of their culture. This piece is to emphasize that our hair is apart of our soul and much like the fibres of hair, there is also fibres that lie within everything living.
Mediums: Acrylic Paint on Primed Stonehenge paper.
Consolation
Note from the artist.
This piece was derived heavily on the emotions I feel, specifically every-time i feel at my lowest I privately console with the creator in hopes for healing to me and my loved ones. In selfish times I would look to the Creator and ask, 'Why?' through the hardships I would face and would pray for clarity or a sign.
Mediums: Water Color, Inkpen and White Charcoal on Strathmore Watercolour Paper,
The Welcoming Spirit
Note from the Artist.
This piece is mostly made on a dream i remember having where i kept seeing a waving arm trying to reach out to me but i could never grab it. To me the Braid spirit is something i can look forward to for embrace. Although i don’t know the meaning of it, i felt i needed to portray the image.
Mediums: Acrylic on In-Studio made canvas.
